Guantanamo bay has long been a hotbed for corruption and violations of international law. I personally don't understand how we were able for so long to have a military prison in a country with whom we have such horrible relations. Excellent first act after taking the oath. What a great message to send to the world.

I think the closing of Guantanamo Bay was a significant first action by President Obama. It sent the immediate message to the world that it was NOT "business as normal" when it comes to his policies and how he wants the rest of the world to view us. Kudos for integrity and ethics back in the White House!

I would perfer to release them, we can kill them on the battlefield much easier, and next lets not bother capturing them, just put a bullet in thier head.

I say if Gitmo is closed, put the inmates back where you found them = if it's Afghanistan, Iraq or whatever. Drop em off at nigh, don't warn those countries first. Let them deal with it.

I am very concerned for the welfare of our nation if the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay are released. It is not integrity nor ethics that will prevent those same terrorists from attacking us again -- and next time, they may do so more successfully.

It's not closed and it won't be. Obama knows that, it's just another political move to make him look like he is honoring a campaign promise. I have to also say that "Nevlin" is not very creative, but he is very consistent...

The biggest mistake with Gitmo was opening it in the first place. All of the captured men at Gitmo should have been questioned and then executed. They were nothing more than muslim trash and were totally worthless to any society.
