I was really shocked that Hillary was chosen as secretary of state, rather than working on her pet project of health care reform. But when I started reading the criticisms and praise, I think she was a smart choice. She's a friendly, rational, intelligent woman who truly represents Obama's desire for new diplomacy. I have high hopes. Our reputation couldn't really get much worse, could it?

I think Obama has done some very smart things right off the bat. For example, appointing George Mitchell was one of the best things he could have done with the Middle East. Mitchell is well liked, is highly respected as a foreign peace negotiator (he brokered the agreement with Northern Ireland & England) and knows how to get people to find common ground.
I also think closing GitMO was very smart, because it immediately sent a signal to the rest of the world that while certain behaviors might have been okay with Bush, Obama is NOT going to sanction violating human rights that we ourselves hold dear. We're going to do it right and dignity and integrity.
These two actions alone have sent an important positive message to the rest of the world that the United States is back on the road to becoming respected in the world again.

this whole site is great! i have relieved so much stress in my life by coming here to vent. and i either laugh out loud at the very creative comments/ authors or am amazed at how ridiculously naive the few obomo supporters are! to marigold; may i remind you that gitmo is not closed yet! but since you feel doing so is such a great idea, may i suggest YOU do your country a great service and volunteer to house one or two of it's detainees in the event it ever does close?? it seems mr. barrack hussein obama has no idea what to do with them! or might i suggest they house them in the basements of the aclu and/or the dnc headquarters? either way make sure they remove all interior door locks just to make the places more 'people friendly'!! keep me laughing, i'm lovin it james a. harris

My concern in reference to foreign policy is not in refrence to Hillary Clinton. On the contrary, I believe Hillary Clinton is a good choice of leadership. My concern is how many agreements have been made in the past which can potentially hamper our USA farmers and few remaining industries from becoming profitable. When I was a little girl, I remember many farms with herds of cattle for milking. Today, those farms are few and far between. Likewise, when I hear of farmers being paid to NOT grow products and /or plants, I cannot help from wondering why American farmers are being enticed with those incentives in an era when there is so much hunger all around us?

Obama is clueless, as evidenced by ...his cluelessness. Dvd's and ipods are certainly meaningful gifts... for 12 year olds. NOT our allies and the Queen. The whole administration is naive and immature. A video to Iran that they laughed at. Obama do you really think it is that easy to negotiate with the middle east? Some of them may not have liked Bush, but they RESPECTED him because they knew they couldn't push him around. It doesn't sound like they respect you so far. And stupid Hillary with her "overcharged" oops I mean "reset" button. How cheesy and immature. They are all making the US look like idiots. Romney 2013.!!!!!!

i am deeply disturbed that our sitting president goes overseas to europe to pander to those socialists! his speeches that blame America for arrogance and other bs is treasonous. damn right we're arrogant we only go and save everybody's asses and get nothing in return but disrespect. too much precious American blood has been shed on that continent to secure their freedom and security to say we have not earned the right to be the leader in the world. if not, then our policy should be, "katie bar the doors" and let the hand-wringing socialist of europe handle their side of the world! after all, we have plenty of problems to take care of right here in the good 'ol US of A! MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS AMERICA and save us all from barrack hussein obama! james a. harris

"57 states", "my Muslim faith", "the islamic call to prayer is the most beautiful sound" - if it looks like a chicken, sounds like a chicken, smells like a chicken and acts like a chicken, it isn't a duck! Obama is a muslim and is determined to destroy the US.
