Taxes 9 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Most Government action (or inaction) stems from revenues collected in our tax system. Generally speaking, the more the government collects the more it spends and the more it grows. How do you feel about President Obama's tax plan, and what do you think is the best play in this economic environment.

I understand Obama's desire to cut taxes, and reach across the aisle. If he didn't include tax cuts his stimulus plan wouldn't be passing. I believe that tax cuts should go to the poorest of citizens, and that taxes should be used more wisely. Billions of dolars are poorly spent each year by our government, and Obama made a great comment about evaluating which programs are functioning and cutting those that aren't. I've got my fingers crossed!

Taxes are how we pay for government, whether its the military, education or funding the building of freeways and airports. I have no issue with paying taxes when I know they are being used appropriately to to the benefit of our country and our citizens. I think one of the unfortunate things in the United States is that everyone wants lots of programs, but nobody wants to pay the taxes to HAVE those programs. Compared to other countries, we actually don't get much benefit for the money we spend.

Something has to be done NOw about hte rampant credit card insdustry. Wehn they can double yor minimum payment, raise your interest to a reolvling variable 17-30 % even if you never miss payments, this is the most outrageous ripoffindustry that remains untouched and unregulated bypres. Obama besides contractors who get awya with murder. Please stop credit cards doing htis the more thye take the less there is to pay the mrtgage and here ges America again. Andy

Taxes are a necessary evil, not a right of the masters to collect. The original income tax was sold as a tax on the "rich" and quickly trickled down to everybody. How long before the 90% trickles down just a little further?

Re:Taxes 9 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Hey Jennifer, The poorest citizens already get the best tax breaks, they don't pay any. Who do you think pays for all of the poorest citizen's stuff? The rich people at 40%. When 40 cents of every dollar you make goes to someone that you don't know, I would say that you have more than covered your 'fair share'. That doesn't include any of the other taxes that someone pays (sales, property, gas). Here's a news flash, under Our Dear Leader and his programs, our taxes will only increase and I can hardly wait......

Simplify system... interest, budget plans are in need of review in these difficult times. Penalties punish the poor.

2 million dollars for the "arts" at this time is a bit shall we say lavish? Study the programs before you support them and pray that our leaders use wisdom and not quick and reckless solutions to our problems. We are falling into a spiral that our grandchildren won't rise above. Pray. We are in big trouble. whats' coming economically will be worse than the Great Depression, if we don't get a handle on things. If budgeting and planning is done wisely and not hastily; evaluating each and every penny we can do it without raising taxes. Government programs have to be launched with the greatest of care and evaluation. If the middle class is taxed more what is left of us will no longer be a middle class. There has to be a balance in this system. Pray, thats' all you can do, and write your senators and congressmen. They like their jobs and if they want to keep them, which they do, they listen to the people. But, you must get petitions and write to them..

While taxes are important to any government, when people have no jobs, money from taxes may help sustain people for a while. The bottom line is that there has been little control for way too long over how American's taxes are utilized. Our nation is currently experiencing a major "drain" on our infrastructure and general resources because we have too many illegal aliens and too few industries in America. Our nation must once again be able to produce goods -- not just services -- in America. None of us likes to pay taxes but we pay taxes because it is our duty as America citizens. Right now, too many of us are without jobs because high taxes are just one of the contributors to pushing industry out of the USA.

Key word up there "Generally speaking, the more the government collects the more it spends and the more it grows." The bigger the gov. grows, the smaller our freedom gets. The more money the gov. spends, the more it TAKES out of the economy. Leave the money in our pockets and we the people will stimulate the economy. Hello, Jennifer, there are NO tax cuts coming. Why should tax cuts go only to the poorest of citizens? We are middle class and barely make it. There is no financial aid for us, no help, we are not rich but we make it on our own and we could use some tax cuts too. When you cut taxes, PEOPLE stimulate the economy, ESPECIALLY the wealthier people, who, by the way, never made the money at YOUR expense, never took a damn thing from the poor. They only employ the poorer people, provide insurance benefits, provide other services through the jobs their businesses provide. Don't fall for the liberal crap about the rich hurting you! NEWS Flash for Marigold: EVERYONE doesn't want lots of gov. programs. And for Andrea: IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE CREDIT CARD RATES, DON'T USE THEM!!!!! That's a private business. If people stop abusing the cards, they will lower the rates. It's called FREE MARKET!
